Dr. Luping Zhou is a Senior Lecturer in School of Computing and Information Technology, University of Wollongong, Australia. She obtained her PhD, MSc, and BEng from Australian National University, National University of Singapore and Southeast University, China, respectively. After PhD, she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA and then a staff research scientist in Australian e-Health Research Centre, CSIRO. Zhou joined University of Wollongong in 2012 as Vice Chancellor Researcher. She received the Discovery Early Career Researcher Award from Australia Research Council in 2015. Zhou has broad research interest in medical image analysis, machine learning and computer vision. Her work has been published on premier journals and conferences in the related fields. Zhou is the Lead General Chair of the international workshop MLMI (Machine Learning in Medical Imaging) 2015 in Munich Germany, and the Guest Editor of the special issue “Machine Learning in Medical Imaging” with Pattern Recognition. Zhou has served 20 international journals, conferences and workshops as chair, TPC member or reviewer. Zhou is a senior member of IEEE.

Jing Sun is a Guest Lecturer in University of Western Australia & CSIRO Land and Water of Floreat, Australia. She obtained her PhD in 2016 from Columbia University, New York, USA. Her Ph.D thesis was based on Developing Improved Strategies of Remediating Arsenic Contaminated Aquifers. She has published 16 publications (3 in ES&T) and obtained more than 10 research grants.Her research focuses on hydrogeochemistry; groundwater and soil remediation; reactive transport modeling; palaeoenvironmental sciences; application of advanced spectroscopic techniques.In this presentation, she will show the Effects of Iron Mineralogy on the Environmental Fate of Metals and on Iron Bioavailability in the Ocean.
